The brief was to create an entertaining space as a computer/homework room to be predominantly used by the children of this client. Through the Concept Design phase, Hamilton King came up with a design scheme that was based around an ‘Apple Shop’ and utilized wooden Herringbone cladding in contrast to minimal and contemporary surfaces.
Hamilton King managed the Manufacture and Installation of the components for this project and worked alongside our specialist joinery company to produce the finished article. To create a textured finish to the Herringbone, Hamilton King specified the material is from reclaimed floor joists of which the joiner was able to plane to varying thicknesses. Each Herringbone piece is applied to the joinery and feature wall in a random order to create the desired textured and rustic aesthetic.
